Heavenly Hues are transparent color washes that allow one-step decorating for wood, ceramic bisque, or plaster. Simply apply paint and then wipe off excess. When used as a wash over opaque Americana acrylics, the result is added depth or an antique finish. Transferring Pattern Lay tracing paper over pattern and draw the basic lines. Lay this tracing on the surface to be painted. tape to secure. Slip graphite paper between the tracing and the surface. Trace with a pencil to transfer the design. Do not trace details until after basecoating has dried. Painting Instructions 1. Use old fan brush to paint circle tray with Pale Gold. Set aside to dry. 2. Paint frame and memory book with Cloud White. Wipe back. Let dry. 3. Trace oval onto piece of poster board or cardboard and cut out. Center oval on album. Tape strips of masking tape on album (securing oval) to make vertical stripes. Tape 1/2" outside border of frame and 1/2" borders at top and bottom of candle. 4. Lightly mist candle with matte spray. Set aside to dry. 5. Sponge Beautiful Beige on exposed areas of book, frame and candle. Let dry. Remove tape. 6. Transfer patterns. Use flat brush to paint holly leaves and album border Hunter Green, berries Beautiful Burgundy and ribbon Heavenly Gold. 7. Use flat brush to shade ribbon with Soft Black. Use liner and Soft Black to paint berry stems and "Christmas Memories." 8. Use liner to make Beautiful Burgundy squiggle lines to accent borders between White Cloud and Blissful Beige areas. 9. Use flat brush to paint 1/4" border of Heavenly Gold on inside edge of frame. Let dry. 10. Mist all with two light coats of Matte Spray, allowing to dry between coats. Helpful hint: Do not over stroke Heavenly Hues on candle. A light coat of Matte Spray between coats will help if you need to shade, highlight or touch up. |
