Americana acrylics are artist-quality, water-based, non-toxic paints. They are intermixable and suitable for almost any surface. They are creamy to facilitate smooth and easy brush strokes, and highly pigmented for richer color and one-stroke coverage. The wide range of colors makes color coordination easy - it reduces the waste of mixing to get the perfect hue. Transferring Pattern Lay tracing paper over pattern and draw the basic lines. Lay this tracing on the surface to be painted. Tape to secure. Place graphite paper between the tracing and the surface. Trace with a pencil to transfer the design. Do not trace details until after basecoating has dried. Painting Instructions 1. Transfer patterns to compressed sponge and cut out with scissors. 2. Use flat brush to paint hills on bottom 1/3 of bag with white. 3. Dip slightly dampened snowman sponge in white and apply to bag. 4. Repeat previous process with tree sponges dipped in Mistletoe and square sponge dipped in Santa Red. Allow to dry and repeat around all sides of bag. 5. Use #3 round brush to paint Terra Cotta arms, Santa Red cap and Holly Green/Santa Red striped scarf on snowman. 6. Use permanent marker to add face and buttons to snowman, dots to white checkers, and outline all. 7. Dilute white with water and use spatter brush to spatter* snow. Let dry. 8. Mist bag with matte spray and sprinkle Glamour Dust on snow areas while wet. Techniques *Spatter: Thin to consistency of heavy cream. Dip an old toothbrush in color. Drag thumbnail through bristles. A fan brush with stiff bristles also works well. |
