PREPARATION
Clean both pieces with 1:1 mix of vinegar and water. Dry.

PAINTING INSTRUCTIONS
Note: Use Clear Medium instead of water for shading and highlighting.

Larger Watering Can
1. Use 1" wash brush to basecoat can with Soft Blue, adding additional coats if necessary.

2. Transfer pattern outlines, ladybug’s head and feet, and lettering.

3. Use #2 flat brush to paint frog with 1:1 mix of True Green and Sunlight Yellow.

4. Use #2 flat brush to paint ant hill Burnt Sienna and snake Coal Black.

5. Use #1 flat brush to paint bee body and head Sunlight Yellow, and wings Ivory.

6. Use #1 flat brush to paint ladybug body Real Red, head Ivory, feet black and grasshopper with 1:1 mix of Hunter Green and Sunlight Yellow.

7. When dry, transfer pattern details.

8. Use #2 flat brush to shade frog Hunter Green, highlight Bright Lime Green, shade ant hill Espresso Bean and highlight Ivory.

9. Use #1 flat brush to paint around head of ladybug black and grasshopper’s legs Hunter Green.

10. Use #1 liner brush to paint snake’s tongue Real Red and blades of grass Hunter Green, then True Green, then Bright Lime Green.

11. When dry, use #1 liner brush to paint and dot letters black.

12. Dot black ants with end of 1/2" stipple brush. Use end of a smaller brush to dot ant’s feet.

13. Make hearts on ladybug by dipping end of stylus into black. Make two dots, side by side, then pull each to a point to form a heart.

14. When dry, use #1 liner brush and black to paint antennae on ants, and antennae and mouths on bee, ladybug and grasshopper.

15. Use appropriate size brush handle to dot eyes and mouths, referring to photo. Add centers to eyes after outer part has dried.

16. When dry, use toothbrush to lightly spatter can with black.

17. Use 1" piece of sponge to randomly apply Ivory; apply a heavier coat around top edge and spout.

Smaller Watering Can
Note: Use #2 flat brush to do all painting except where specified otherwise.

1. Use 1/2" wash brush to basecoat watering can with Ivory.

2. Paint hearts and stripes Soft Blue.

3. Transfer pattern outlines and paint ladybug’s wings Real Red and head and hands black.

4. Double load Ivory and black to make a shade line at the bottom of ladybug’s face.

5. Paint grasshopper’s face with 1:1 mix of Hunter Green and Sunlight Yellow.

6. Double load green/yellow mix on one side and Hunter Green on the other to shade grasshopper’s head. Paint hands Hunter Green.

7. When dry, transfer face details.

8. Use #1 liner to paint antennae and mouths black and end of brush to dot eyes Bright White, noses Real Red and grasshopper’s antennae black. When dry, dot eyes black.

9. Use stylus to make hearts on ladybug’s antennae and wings with black.

10. When dry, use toothbrush to spatter can with Soft Blue, then black.
