| PREPARATION CANDLE 1. Follow instructions on Candle Painting Medium for cleaning candle and mixing paint. Several coats of paint will be needed for opaque coverage. 2. Trace oval frame around pattern onto contact paper and cut out four times. Center oval frame onto all four sides and adhere. Paint exposed areas except for the top Lamp Black. Remove contact paper. PAINTING INSTRUCTIONS Hint: All strokes are pulled from edge of leaf or petal and pulled toward center with filbert brush. Set brush down with pressure and decrease pressure so black background shows near center. 1. Paint leaves Green Pearl. Highlight one side with Glorious Gold comma strokes that begin at vein and end at edge. There are tiny comma strokes on opposite side as well. 2. Paint first layer of color on large flower and bud Bronze. Pull Copper over two-thirds of each petal. Highlight shown on pattern is Emperor’s Gold. Center is first tapped in with Green Pearl. Tap in an oval ring of Glorious Gold and highlight front with Emperor’s Gold. Outline with Glorious Gold and liner. 3. Paint bluebell buds with Ice Blue and highlight with stroke of Shimmering Silver on lower edge. Stamen is Glorious Gold. Outline with brush mix of Shimmering Silver and Ice Blue. 4. Use liner to outline leaves, add bluebell stem and create weeds with brush mix of Copper and Glorious Gold. Outline oval, add dots and do crosshatching with Glorious Gold. 5. Paint base Hauser Light Green. When dry, use damp sea sponge to tap minimum amount of Glorious Gold over surface. When dry, apply Hunter Green and blot away excess paint. Paint routered edge Glorious Gold. Hammer trim nail through center of plaque and impale candle on it. BOX 1. Use 3/4" flat brush to paint center of lid and sides and bottom of box Hauser Light Green. Refer to base instructions for candle to create faux finish. 2. Transfer oval pattern and paint remainder of box and dimensional square Lamp Black with #10 shader. When dry, transfer details of pattern. Paint each corner fan shape, outlining on edge of box and line around oval Glorious Gold. Shade lower edge of each section of fan with Copper and highlight opposite edge with Shimmering Silver. Outline each section with black. 3. Dry-brush dimensional wood with Glorious Gold. Four ‘C’ shapes are Shimmering Silver and center is Copper. Let dry. 4. Load filbert brush with Copper to paint design on faux finish. Center points are Glorious Gold. Shade inside oval, around comma strokes and points with black. Outline with Glorious Gold, using liner. FINISHING INSTRUCTIONS When dry, glue dimensional wood into center of design. |
