1) Glue the (A) 1 ¾” x 1 ¾” x 24" squares to make the panel. Let set for 24 hours. Then cut to length and sand.

  1 ¼" dowel 5/8" long1¼"od  x 5/8"long

2) Cut ¼" x 3/8" grooves as per illustration above. (Note: Cut the grooves that run with the grain first and embed the inlay before cutting the grooves against the grain as per step 3)

3) Using the 1 ¼" x 1 ¼" x 24" cut four strips ¼" x 5/8" slightly oversized, these will be hand fitted for your inlay.

4) Cut excess of inlay strips off and sand flush to cutting board. Drill 1 ¼" flat bottom holes at the center of the intersection of the inlays. These holes are ½" deep.

5) Cut and inlay your 1 ¼" x 5/8" dowel pieces into each intersection hole. Sand down to flush with cutting board.

6) Round over all edges with a recommended 3/8" radius.

7) Round over the end of the 1 ¼" dowels before cutting to a length of 1 3/8" (B) Drill holes 2" in from each side of each corner. Make these holes 5/8" deep from the bottom of the cutting board.

Note: We used 25% Bees Wax and 75% Mineral Oil heated till liquefied then rubbed in.
If being used regularly, reapply on a monthly basis.
