Americana acrylics are artist-quality, water-based, non-toxic paints. They are intermixable and suitable for almost any surface. They are creamy to facilitate smooth and easy brush strokes, and highly pigmented for richer color and one-stroke coverage. The wide range of colors makes color coordination easy - it reduces the waste of mixing to get the perfect hue. Transferring Pattern Lay tracing paper over pattern and draw the basic lines. Lay this tracing on the surface to be painted. tape to secure. Place graphite paper between the tracing and the surface. Trace with a pencil to transfer the design. Do not trace details until after basecoating has dried. Preparation: Sand wood if needed, and wipe with a tack cloth. Painting Instructions for Box 1. Mask off a 1-1/8" border on box lid. Use #12 flat brush and Lamp Black to paint entire box - including inside square on lid. After paint is dry, remove masking tape. 2. Use the #12 flat to apply Oak Gel Stain to remaining raw wood area. Wipe immediately with paper towel, and allow to dry. 3. Trace and transfer pattern to box lid. 4. Use #6 flat and True Red to paint schoolhouse, right side of ball, the letter 'B', and the apple. Use Cadmium Yellow for school bus, center of ball, and pencils. The house and sign are painted Titanium White; house roof, tree tops, the letter 'C', and apple leaves are Kelly Green; cat is Lamp Black. The letter 'A', the word 'cat' and left side of ball are True Blue. Let dry. 5. Use liner brush and Titanium White to paint child's name and "School Memories". Use back handle tip of brush to dot letters and apples with True Red. 6. Use liner to paint Lamp Black details and for outlining around designs in lid's margin (refer to photo). Let dry. Instructions for Frame: 1. Mask off 3/8" border. Use #12 flat to apply Oak Gel Stain- wipe back with paper towel. After removing masking tape, paint remaining areas with Lamp Black. 2. Trace and transfer pattern. 3. Using #6 flat, paint apples True Red and leaves Kelly Green. Let dry. 4. Use liner brush and Titanium White to paint highlights on apples, child's name, date, and grade. Let dry. Instructions for Ruler: 1. Mask off number area of ruler. Use #12 flat to paint exposed area with lamp Black. After removing tape, apply Oak Gel Stain to number area. 2. Using #6 flat, paint apples True Red and leaves Kelly Green. 3. Use liner brush to paint child's name and apple's highlights with Titanium White. Let dry. Finishing Instructions: All pieces may be sprsyed with 2 light coats of Matte Spray. Allow to dry between coats. Optional: For shiny finish, use Gloss Spray. |
