Construction
1. Transfer the patterns to the stock.
2. Cut out the patterns using a scroll saw, jig saw or band saw. Sand edges smooth.
3. Using a drill and a 1" spade bit, cut the 1/2" radius arcs at the top and bottom corners of the brace and the front corners of the cross bar.
4. With a countersunk wood screws from the rear of the brace, attach the cross bar centered from side to side and with the top of the cross bar 2 1/4" below the top edge of the brace.
5. Attach the eyehooks to the topmost parts of the curve of the candy cane and center the candy cane on the cross bar so that it will swing freely and be centered on the cross bar. Mark for and insert the eyehooks and attach the chain.

Finishing Notes:
Trace the paint pattern on the surface of the candy cane. If desired, trace the welcome or your favorite holiday greeting on the cross bar.
Suggested Colors:
Bright Christmas Colors,
Brace and Cross Bar- painted bright red, the Welcome painted black with white highlights, the Candy Cane painted bright red and white stripes with the Holly Leaves and Pine Leaves painted shades of green and the Bow painted a vivid gold.
