PREPARATION Clean candles with rubbing alcohol and dry. PAINTING INSTRUCTIONS Note: When painting candles, mix all paint colors 1:1 with Candle Painting Medium. 1. Basecoat 8" pillar with Sapphire and taper with Titanium White. Sponge Titanium White onto 3" pillar, then sponge with Sapphire. 2. Basecoat candle cup and spool with Sapphire. 8" Pillar 1. Transfer pattern. Paint vines and leaves with Mistletoe, using liner. Fill leaves with #6 flat brush. 2. Paint Morning Glories with #6 flat brush and 1:1 mix of Sapphire and Titanium White. Dip dot centers with Cadmium Yellow. 3. Highlight left sides of flowers with Titanium White; shade right side with Payne’s Grey. 3" Pillar 1. Use pouncer to make five-petal flowers and centers with Titanium White. Pounce over white centers with Cadmium Yellow. 2. Use liner to make swirls of Mistletoe and Titanium White between flowers. Taper Using #6 flat brush, paint Sapphire stripes. Using #1 liner, make Cadmium Yellow and Mistletoe stripes, referring to photo for placement. Spool 1. Paint diamond pattern on spool with Titanium White and liner. 2. Use liner to paint trim Mistletoe. Candle Cup 1. Paint simple flowers, using liner with Titanium White and Cadmium Yellow. 2. Use liner to paint Mistletoe swags below flowers and trim edge along top. 3. With 1:1 mix of Mistletoe and Titanium White, paint short lines over green trim and at lowest point of swags. FINISHING INSTRUCTIONS 1. Glue cup and spool together with wood glue. 2. Use #6 flat brush to apply two coats of DuraClear to picket and candle holder. |
