PAINTING INSTRUCTIONS
Terra Cotta Pots
1. Paint the pots with Daisy Cream, making sure to paint the entire pots, inside and out, including the drain hole. Let dry.

2. Measure 1" from the bottom and mask off bottom of each pot with tape.

3. Mix equal parts Pinecone Brown and Clear Coat. Use 3/4" brush to pull vertical strokes over the side of the pot with the mix. Remove tape and pull horizontal strokes around exposed area and rim.

4. Use liner brush filled with Old Brick Red to freehand vertical 1" wide lines to separate slats on crate. The ends of the top and bottom bands are a curved Old Brick Red line.

5. Create the grain in the wood with Old Brick Red, using the liner. Add an occasional Woodland Brown knothole.

6. Shade to the right of each slat and behind the bands with Woodland Brown. Use tacky glue to glue sheet moss inside the top edge of small pot.

Candle
Note: Mix all paints 1:1 with Candle Painting Medium.
1. Use dampened sponge to pounce opaque coverage of Daisy Cream over entire candle. Let dry.

2. Transfer pattern around candle with exception of the highlighted areas on the apples. These need to be freehanded, as the marks will show through the paint.

3. Use the liner to pull out Fiesta Yellow inside the indentations at the stem and calyx.

4. Use the filbert to basecoat the apple with Geranium Red. Two coats may be needed. Allow the color to fade into the highlighted area and the indentations. Leave the highlighted area free of color. Let dry.

5. Shade areas shown on pattern by dots with Old Brick Red. Use the filbert brush to stroke Fiesta Yellow over the highlight and across the highest parts of the apple. Allow the color to fade into the red. Add several strokes of Cloud White over the highlight for an added shine. Shade as shown on the pattern by the crosshatch marks with Woodland Brown.

6. Outline the apples with Woodland Brown.

7. The stems are Pinecone Brown. Shade the left side with Woodland Brown; highlight the right side with Daisy Cream.

8. Basecoat the leaves with Citrus Green. Shade the lower edges with Old Brick Red and highlight the top edges with Fiesta Yellow. Outline and add the veins with Old Brick Red.

Basket
1. Use the dampened sea sponge to pounce Daisy Cream over the plaque. While still wet, pounce in Pinecone Brown to achieve a mottled effect.

2. Paint the banners Fiesta Yellow. Let dry.

3. Mix equal parts Pinecone Brown and Clear Coat. Apply across banners with 3/4" wash brush to antique. Let dry.

4. Transfer the pattern. Shade as shown by dots on the pattern with Old Brick Red. Highlight the top edges with Fiesta Yellow, using #12 flat brush. The letters are painted with #4 flat brush and outlined with Woodland Brown, using liner.

5. Paint the apple cut-outs Daisy Cream. Let dry and transfer the patterns. Refer to the candle instructions to paint the full apples, stems and leaves, omitting the Candle Painting Medium.

6. Paint the skin around the half apple Geranium Red. Shade inside the skin with Pinecone Brown. Float Citrus Green around the core. Float Old Brick Red hit-and- miss lightly around the core. The seeds are Old Brick Red outlined with Woodland Brown.

7. Drill two small holes at the top and bottom of the plaque and secure it to the basket with jute or glue the plaque to the side of the basket. Hot glue the banners to the top and bottom of the plaque and apples in the center as desired.
