Instructions
 
Transferring Patterns
Lay tracing paper over pattern and draw the basic lines. Lay this tracing on the surface to be painted. Slip graphite paper between the tracing and the surface and secure. Trace with a pencil or stylus to transfer the design. Do not trace details until after basecoating has dried.

Preparation
Clean jars with 1:1 mix of vinegar and water; dry.

Painting Instructions
Noah’s Ark Jar
1. Trace ark shape onto back of Easy Cling stencil. Cut out with scissors, peel off backing and place on jar.

2. Sponge one to two coats of Sage Green onto jar with petitfour sponge, letting dry between coats.

3. Trace giraffe and elephant patterns onto compressed sponge. Cut out, dip in water to expand, squeeze out excess water.

4. Pounce sun on jar with Cadmium Yellow. Use liner brush to make rays.

5. Dip giraffe sponge into Sable Brown and place on jar, gently pressing with fingers and carefully lifting off. Repeat to make two giraffes. Add spots and nose with Chocolate and eyes with Gloss Black.

6. Use Williamsburg Blue to make two elephants. Add Gloss Black details.

7. Spatter with Gloss White, using old toothbrush.

8. Transfer ark pattern to birdhouse. Paint roof with Americana Williamsburg Blue, middle section Golden Straw, bottom Santa Red. Shade Golden Straw with Burnt Umber. Basecoat door and add details with Gloss Black.

Dragonfly Jar
1. Trace moon and star patterns on back of Easy Cling stencil, repeating star pattern to make 3 stars. Cut out, peel off paper backing, and place on jar.

2. Sponge one to two coats of Sage Green onto jar with petitfour sponge, letting dry between coats.

3. Reproduce dragonfly pattern to make 3 and transfer to jar; pounce body with Christmas Red and wings with Gloss White. Dot eyes with Gloss Black.

4. When dry, highlight eyes with Gloss White.

5. Spatter with Cadmium Yellow and then Gloss Black, using old toothbrush.

Finishing Instructions
1. Score around stencils with X-acto knife; lift off. Clean paint smears or messed edges with X-acto knife.

2. Glue birdhouse to bottom of Noah’s Ark jar.

3. Drill 1" hole into each jar seal and attach clip-in light with bulb.

4. Cut 8" circle from fabric for each jar. Sew in elastic with zig-zag stitch 1" from edge. Pull elastic to gather. Stitch to secure ends.

5. Place jar seal into ring, screw onto jar and place cloth bonnet on. Tie jute around bonnet.

Note: Do not leave jar lights unattended while turned on.
