AUTUMN BEAN WREATH
Materials needed:
Assorted dried beans (Can include peas, corn, barley, or any
dried item.)
Cinnamon sticks
Chenille florist's stems
Whole cloves
Gathered trim
Modge Podge
Ribbon
Craft glue
Straight pins
Plastic foam wreath
Florist's tape
Small bowl or cylinder shape to fit center of wreath.
Newspapers, rags
Instructions:
Mix dried beans, etc. in large bowl.
Cover plastic foam wreath with florist's tape.
Use chenille stem to make a hanger and attach.
Place ruffle on outer edge of wreath and glue. (Straight pins can be used to
hold ruffle in place until glue dries.)
Place the ring over a small bowl or (Make a circular shape out of cardboard to
fit in the center of wreath. This is to prevent the beans from getting into the
center of the ring. In a bowl mix one cup of dried beans with six heaping
tablespoons of Modge Podge.
Spoon the mixture around the inside of the wreath taking care not to get any on
the ruffle.
Work quickly.
Wash bowls immediately.
Lay the wreath on the newspaper to dry.
Make a bow and attach. Glue on wreath.
Glue on cloves and cinnamon sticks.
Adaptations:
You can make smaller wreaths by using cardboard circles instead of foam wreaths. These make nice little gifts to leave with someone in the rest home or to give as a gift for grandma!
