        Instructions
     
    Preparation
    The basket comes already stained. Tape off the edges of the lid with 3/4” wide magic tape. Basecoat insert with Deep Midnight Blue. Transfer pattern.

    Shelf: Basecoat with Burnt Umber, highlight along the top edge with Sable Brown. Wood graining is fine lines of Bittersweet Chocolate with a touch of Black. Add a few light lines in Sable Brown.

    Tall Snowman on Left
    1. Basecoat snowman in Antique White, highlight on the left side with Buttermilk. Basecoat hat with Mistletoe, shade with Black Forest Green, highlight with Bright Green. The stripes on the brim are Bright Green with a touch of White Wash. the arm branches are Bittersweet Chocolate, highlighted here and there with touches of Sable Brown and Yellow Ochre.

    2. The ties around the snowman’s neck and on his cap are True Red highlighted with Cadmium Red. The nose is Burnt Orange, shaded next to the face with Burnt Umber. The eyes, mouth and snap buttons are Black.

    3. When the face features are dry, wet the entire face with clean water, dab a small amount of True Red plus White in cheek area. Using a small Mop Brush, soften out blush area.

    4. The cardinal is True Red with a Black face. The beak and feet are Marigold.

    5. The mittens are Country Red. Shade Country Red with a touch of Black Forest Green. Highlight with True Red. The mitten string is Neutral Grey, highlighted here and there with a touch of White Wash.

    Angel Snowman
    1. Basecoat snowman Antique White, shade with Sable Brown and highlight with Buttermilk. The crosshatching cloth lines are a mix of Sable Brown and Antique White.

    2. The eyes, nose, mouth and stitched hearts are Black.

    3. The branches for the wings are thin lines of Sable Brown, Burnt Umber, Yellow Ochre and Bittersweet Chocolate. The dried leaves are small one-strokes of Yellow Ochre and Antique White. Berries are dots of Country Red.

    4. The halo is Marigold, shaded with Burnt Sienna and highlighted with White Wash. the string hanging from the halo is Neutral Grey highlighted with White Wash. Stars are marigold, shaded on the right with Burnt Sienna and highlighted on the left with White Wash.

    Short Snowman
    1. Basecoat snowman in Light Buttermilk, shade with neutral Grey and highlight with White Wash.
    2. The vest is Sapphire, shaded with Deep Midnight Blue next to the arms. Highlight the edges with a mix of Sapphire and a little White Wash. The plaid stripes are White Wash. The buttons are Marigold, shaded with a line of Burnt Sienna on the right and a highlight dot of White Wash on the left.

    3. The nose is Country Red with a dot of White Wash to highlight. The eyes, mouth and all stitching lines are Black.

    Patchwork Snowman
    1. Basecoat snowman in Desert Sand. Shade the left side, above and below arm, next to tummy, and next to birdhouse snowman with a soft float of Neutral Grey. Highlight the right side and edges of arms and tummy with a float of Buttermilk.

    2. One square on the bottom section of snowman and scarf are both basecoated in Forest Green, shaded with Black Forest Green, and highlighted with Mistletoe. Stripes on the scarf are White and plaid lines on the square are lines of White Wash and Country Red. The other square and earmuffs are basecoated in Country Red, shaded with Charcoal Grey and highlighted with True Red. Dots on the square are White Wash.

    3. Basecoat patchwork square on the arm in Buttermilk. The checks are Country Red. Shade along edge of arm with a soft float of Charcoal Grey.
    All stitching is done in Black.

    4. The nose is Burnt Orange, shaded next to the face with a touch of Burnt Umber. The eyes and mouth are Black. The earmuff wire is Neutral Grey, highlighted here and there with a touch of White Wash.

    Birdhouse Snowman
    1. Basecoat snowman in Khaki Tan, shade with Bittersweet Chocolate and highlight with Desert Sand.

    2. The wood graining is thin lines of Bittersweet Chocolate with a touch of Black. Add a few light lines in Desert Sand. The hole is Charcoal Grey, shaded on the left with Black. The perch is a dot of Burnt Umber. The stick arms are Burnt Umber, shaded next to the body with Bittersweet Chocolate and highlighted on the tips with Sable Brown. The nest cap is thin lines of all the browns on your palette.

    3. The female cardinal is first basecoated in Burnt Umber and then highlighted with Country Red and a few brighter strokes of True Red. Add a few Forest Green one-stroke leaves and tiny dot True Red berries.

    Trim
    1. Basecoat berries in the top corners in Country Red. Shade with a mix of Country Red and a touch of Black Forest Green. Highlight with True Red and a tiny “glisten” dot of White Wash.

    2. Basecoat holly leaves Forest Green, shade with Black Forest Green and highlight with a mix of Mistletoe and Bright Green. Vein lines are the highlight mix plus a touch of White Wash.

    3. Branches are Burnt Umber highlighted here and there with a touch of Sable Brown. Add a few small one-stroke leaves in a double load of Forest Green and Mistletoe.

    4. Strokes on the handles are Forest Green with a touch of Mistletoe. Dots are Country Red.

    Finishing Instructions
    Let basket dry completely and varnish with three coats of Varnish.
